FAQ Below are some answers to questions I get asked all the time. Please read before emailing me. I get asked the same questions over and over. How many Cobra’s were made? I do not publish that number. Currently Kevin Marti of Marti autoworks has this information. It is over 14000.
How much is my car worth? I don’t know! Really, checkout my page on market values. That is the best I’ll do for you. What your car is worth is equal to what someone else will pay. I’m not privy to that info.
Was Ram Air availble on all models? Yes and no. Any car with a 428CJ had ram air as an option. Cobra's were available with out ram air, ie. a Q code car. Any car ordered with a 428CJ could be also ordered with Ram Air. Hood scopes were also a separate option. You could order a scope separate from the Ram Air option. Hood scoops could be deleted for a credit on Torino GT's.
What is the best way to restore my car? Pay a professional? Again I don't know. It is a matter of personal taste and personal finances. Try joining a club or the Fairlane Club and ask members for their opinion. My opinion is to do what ever you want with the car and can afford.
Where can I find parts for my car? Many places. First try my parts contact page. Other sources are Hemmings motor news, Old Cars Weekly, Your local Ford Dealer and Parts store!!! There are some places that specialize in reproduction parts, ie. Autokrafters, Dearborn Classics. Try joining a Ford Club and be active in it. Many members have that special someone they go to for parts, they will gladly share that info. Ford made over 750,000 68-69 fairlanes, junk yards still have some. Try the local paper. Many times there are junkers in my local paper that can be had for a few hundred dollars. Take the parts you need and sell the rest. You'll break even very quick. Sell the rest for scrape (note, please don't do this with a restorable car) I have a Mercury, not a Ford, what should I do? Congrats! Now, so what? Everything that applies to Fairlanes applies to Montego's, Cyclones. Same parts dealers, same rules. Demand is lower for Mercury's so plan on spending some more time looking for parts. It can be done. Why don't you have any thing besides 1968's and 1969's? Because that is the car I am familiar with. Don't get me wrong I like the other years but I specialize in just 68 and 69's. Anserwing everyone questions on these years is enough. I currenlty spend all morning every Saturday just answering Emails. Covering any other years would take all my time. So do not send me questions on 66-67 or questions on your 71 Convertible. Really they are nice cars but I will not respond to the questions. Why do you have fairlaneregistry.com but don't cover any other years? One, see above. Two, I have been on the net since 1993. I have had this website since early 1997 and bought the name fairlaneregistry.com in late 1997. Only two groups have a better claim to the name than me. One is Ford and I'll give it up if they ask. Two is the Fairlane club of America. Again if they ask, the name is available for their use.
